I'm using Norton 2000, and both options are checked (although in my
version "enable Manual configuration" is under "E-mail Protection"
rather than "Advanced."

I also reinstalled Norton, thinking that might be the problem, and
have done everything else I could think of. I'm about ready to pack it
in and forget about Norton protection with TB! Somehow with the
settings I've used I can't connect to the server, and when the POP3
server is set at "127.0.0.1" (per the Norton Help file), I do connect
to the server, but no messages are downloaded.
