mm, that's also a possibility ... i'll see if i find can anything on that.

Don't forget that adding an eg 3 Mb attachment to a mail will result
in the mail being well over said 3 Mb in size, as each attachment has
to be properly encoded ;)

Server Timeout setting ??

2003-02-09 Thread Rob
Hi,

i'm having a look at IzyMail (a local mail server that allows you to use
POP3/SMTP for webmail based accounts) to handle my Hotmail e-mail thru
TheBat!
there's only one problem ; when i attach pictures the action seems to
time-out and i get this in TB's log :

09/02/2003, 12:35:42: SEND - connected to SMTP server
 09/02/2003, 12:35:42: SEND - sending message to ...
!09/02/2003, 12:36:32: SEND - Message has not been sent. Server reply - error
 09/02/2003, 12:36:33: SEND - connection finished - 0 messages sent
09/02/2003, 12:36:33: SEND - Some messages were not sent - check the log for details
(btw ; is there really another log with more details or is this all ??)

anyway, i checked IzyMail's web site and they suggest that for big
transfers the e-mail client might get 'impatient' and stops the transfer.
so is there a 'server timeout' setting in TB ??
as a work-around i reduced the size of the picture and then it got thru, so
size and time to transfer indeed seem to be the problem ...

To me, the above looks like the server has reported an error. You
couldn't have that in the log if TB timed out.

(btw ; is there really another log with more details or is this all ??)

This is all. But if you have ticked View / Log panel, you will see
only the last line of the log. So there is a hint that there was an
error, and you can check the log for any further info (as you did).

as a work-around i reduced the size of the picture and then it got thru, so

My first guess is that the server limits the message size.
