Thanks Marc. I didn't realize Gmail did that. I sent a message to the

entered address as you're typing. The autocomplete portion of the
address is blocked in blue (as if selected) and if you try to change
what TB is suggesting, it won't let you. I've looked at PREFERENCES

There used to be an option to dictate where the autocomplete comes
from. I can't find it for looking.

However, what you say above doesn't resemble how it works. If you just
keep typing, TB lets you do so and refines the suggestion until it
runs out of matches. Perhaps it's just a matter of being shocked out
of continuing once a full name pops back. Any attempt to
(unnecessarily) reposition the edit caret to lose the blue marker will
have the appearance of blocking you, but it's as simple as ignore
it and keep typing.

Re: Test message

2000-01-30 Thread Tom Plunket

JA As you can see from the above, there are spaces between mailto: and
JA the address in some of the headers above. It doesn't matter yet
JA since TB doesn't support those features in any advanced way, but if
JA and when it does, this might present a problem.

More to the point, the space invalidates the URL, but TB, as most
MUAs, interprets [EMAIL PROTECTED] as an email address that can be clicked on, so
it highlights that, independent of the mailto: indicator.

Well, if needed I can stripe out any of message header (as Listar or

Until that time, the current way is the better choice IMHO, unless you

SL Really? Let me forward you a message from one of my lists and see what
SL headers you get compared to you being subscribed or not. :P

Please. ;-)

Until that time, the current way is the better choice IMHO, unless you
consider the overhead(ache) of unsub attempts on the list as the price
to pay for saving so many KB on each message.

SL Why not both until that time? It is always good to have the machine
SL readable information there. :P

Wouldn't that be even more KB's coming down the old DUN connection?

Prolly. Of course, while we're at it let's remove all the other machine
readable headers as well. Reply-to, reference, in-reply-to, x-sender, etc,
etc, etc. :)

Also, if you're trying to make a mailto: URL you need to lose the
space. Some of the headers had 'em, others didn't...

RFC2369 (was:Re: Test message)

2000-01-28 Thread Thomas Fernandez

Hi Alexander,

Alexander V. Kiselev wrote:

I believe this is with regards to the recent discussion about the
unsubscribe information overhead on the bottom of each message posted
on the list. (I really like the "subscribe" information, as the header
will be received only by people who are subscribed already. g)

May I present my opinion (which differs from Steve's, so I will switch
off my computer and go hiding under my bed right after sending this
message):

If you just switch the info from the bottom (clear text, which should
be understood even by computer-illiterates) into the headers (not
necessarily viewed by most of those who will stay with TBUDL only for
a brief while and then unsubscribe again), you will have more messages
with "unsubscribe" in subject or header on the list.

If The Bat! supported the feature that Alex has shown us from another
mailer (the P-word), then it would make sense. I would also expect
anybody who is on this list to be using TB!, even if only evaluating
(Alex, you're excused as you have explained your reasons several times
;-)), so if the feature is supported, then even every newbie could use
the header info.

Until that time, the current way is the better choice IMHO, unless you
consider the overhead(ache) of unsub attempts on the list as the price
to pay for saving so many KB on each message.
