Download URL Manager
Can someone please tell me what the Download URL Manager function is all about. I'm a long-time user of TB, but the first time I saw this was upon installing it on a new laptop. This window pops up when I highlight a new incoming message to read. (It has three tabs: Unresolved, Blocked, and Allowed. ) Checking the Help box tells no help is available. So how do I manage this manager? Or can I just disable it with no ill effects? Thanks. -- Running The Bat! version 4.0.14 under Windows XP Current version is 4.1.11 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

URL Manager
Hello Everyone, can someone please explain in easy terms how to use the new URL Manager? I saw two previous posts re getting rid of it and specific blocking but I am not sure how it is meant to be used? The help file does not yet contain any info. I understand that you can individually decide which pics to load but what is the most convenient way to set this up in order to prevent constant pop-ups - kind of a comprise between security and usability? -- Best regards, Tom using TheBat! 4.0.24 on XP Current version is 4.0.24.0 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

The constant pop-ups stop rather soon in my experience. What I'm doing is allowing the servers that carry the pictures for the regular newsletters I'm receiving (apart from spam those are the only messages that link on-line pictures) Some senders include a picture that they can use as something to keep track of you having read the message. Those pictures are easily distinguished because of the name and due to the fact that theu're generally located on a different server, so I block those. Depending on the number of newsletters you've subscribed to, it can take a while to allow/block all of them, but the same company generally uses the same same server over and over, so you at some time you're done. -- Groetjes, Roelof Windws is ine for bckgroun comunicaions- Bll Gats, 192 http://www.voormijalleen.nl/ The Bat! 4.0.26 Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6001 Service Pack 1 3 pop3 accounts OTFE enabled Quad Core 2.4GHz 4 GB RAM pgpOkwbvkh6Ix.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 4.0.24.0 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Wildcards in URL Manager / Block whole domain
Hi Thomas, 2008/6/12 Thomas Fernandez [EMAIL PROTECTED]: When you open the URL manager, it shows the main domain at the top (imageshacks.us in your case) and the individual image URLs below in the tree. You can select the main URL and choose Block. I'll agree that you can block a base URL that way, but not a domain. The problem is that the spam image URLs are of the form http://img.imageshack.us/pict.gif - of course I can block individual images and even a subdomain (img in this case), but there are hundreds (thousands?) of subdomains. Thanks Stuart. Did not see the little planet icon, but there was a choice at bottom left - to untick showing this window automatically. So did this. (No way to get it back if I ever want it - unlikely -, and no help from the help button at bottom right.) You will only see the icon if you are highlighting an HTML email with external links -- Rick Dare we hope?
