Upgrade question

2008-08-25 Thread Teresa Eckford
Hello,

Ive just scrubbed my computer and reinstalled the OS, so am reloading
all my software. I figure this is a good time to upgrade to V4 of TB.
Do I need to install the old version first, then download the upgrade
and install? Or can I just pay the upgrade price and download from the
upgrade?

Also, am I allowed a backup version on my laptop as long as both versions don't
run at the same time?

Thanks :)

Teresa

Now is as good time as ever.

TE Do I need to install the old version first, then download the upgrade

You don't have to install the old version first, though that might
depend on how old your current version is. I don't expect any problems
with a backup from v3, but a backup by an older version might be
difficult to restore, so if you were using v1 or v2 then a two step
install might be advisable.

TE Or can I just pay the upgrade price and download from the
TE upgrade?

There is no separate download file for an upgrade, you simply download
the install version and go with that. When you were using v3 you can
use the v3 license for the current version. The v3 license is still
valid for v4.0.x from v 4.1.x you'll need a new license. As the guys
at Ritlabs started publishing v4 versions since last year my guess is
that the first 4.1 version won't be far away now, so a license upgrade
to v4 will be necessary soon, I guess.

TE Also, am I allowed a backup version on my laptop as long as both
TE versions don't run at the same time?

Yep.

TE Thanks :)

What is, if I may ask, a signature delimiter?

It is the dashdashspace that you obviously have in your template
at the beginning of your signature. It makes the signature appear in
another size and font (if set so) and isn't quoted in a reply.

That's the dash dash space on a single line that many mail and usenet
clients use to indicate the end of the body and the begin of the
signature.
When quoting everything beneath the signature delimiter is ignored.
As you can see, I didn't quote your signature, because you used a
signature delimiter.
A signature is a tool against unnecessary quoting and it's courtesy
for those replying to your message that they don't have to trim your
signature from their quotes.

Thanks for all the info, Roelof :) Appreciate the quick response.

I've set the sig delimiter - please let me know if it's not correct. Didn't
mean to cause any problems.

Since you're asking. :-) No it isn't correct, otherwise it couldn't be
quoted. Yours starts with a space, the only space that's supposed to
be on that line is the last one.
But as soon as you've installed TB again, the default template will
include the cutsign.

upgrade question

2001-01-30 Thread Pywacket Martini

Hello bat folk!~

I just installed TB1.49 on a new computer
I had previously been using 1.36

I fired up the new bat and it took my registration key
just fine...all my folders showed up, but no mail!

I have a copy of all my mail currently running on 1.36 on the other
machine--will I need to export?? in order to see my mail in 1.49?
And would that be for each and every folder or is there an easier way?

thanks muchly for your help and apologize for just leaping in, but
it's kind of an issue for me right now.
