disappearng content
Hi, again, Does anyone know why, when I open The Bat, the application will open, but with NO messages in the message list? The menu on the left will open, but no messages appear on the right. I have to close and reopen anywhere from 3-6 times before the message list appears. FWIW, I DO have an aging machine--in six days it will be 10 years old. And, it's hard drive is 96% filled. Could this have something to do with it? I also have a LOT of e-mail. My Bat Mail subdirectory is 8.32GB. -- Avi Avram Sacks Using The Bat ver4.0.18 on Windows XP Pro SP3 Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

My guess is that you're too impatient. Considering the age of your PC, the size of your message base and presuming that you open TB as soon as your system is starting, I think that your pc is still busy doing its startup stuff and that it doesn't have the processing power to do everything at the same time. What might help is making your folders smaller, that means more of them, but TB needs time to read the folder and a larger folderr takes more time to open than a small folder. Apart from that, when is the last time you compressed your database? -- Groetjes, Roelof Moderator's Murphy's Law: Take a vacation and s**t hits the fan. http://www.voormijalleen.nl/ The Bat! 5.0.26.18 (ALPHA) Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6002 Service Pack 2 5 pop3 accounts, 3 imap account OTFE disabled Quad Core 2.4GHz 4 GB RAM pgpDwxZalk9zr.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Maybe, but I just emptied a bunch of trash bins, got rid of a number of large size messages and ran the maintenance center on everything to get rid of duplicated messages and compressed everything. I closed The Bat and then tried to reopen. The first time, it hung for a bunch of minutes. I then closed the application and reopened immediately. This time it promptly opened up without any hanging. Well, I just ran a compression on all of my mailboxes, but every time I close The Bat, I see a pop up that says it's compressing -- Avi Avram Sacks Using The BAT 4.0.18 on Win XP pro sp 3 Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
