v2.11, IMAP auto-filtering
Hi List, At the request of the list moderators (because of x-header conflicts with this list's software), I had to change the email address I used for the list, my only alternative being to one that only supported IMAP. This was quite a pain, because TB! did not auto-filter incoming IMAP mail. I had particular trouble manually filtering, which would cause duplicate messages to be created that would not allow themselves to be deleted, and severe message base corruptions (and lost email) that were not fixable (at least not by me). So, I was relegated to manually dragging new TBUL messages to my TBUL folder for many weeks. This has been aweful. Needless to say, I have eagerly awaited v2.11. I upgraded immediately. I am disappointed. My filters still don't work. Nothing seems to happen automatically. At least manual filtering does not cause the message base corruption problems I experienced with earlier versions. Instead, nothing happens (other than that the log is updated). Here is an exerpt from the log, incurred by manual filtering: 6/2/2004, 09:40:25: FILTER - Message from Mary Bull, subject Re: New TB! release June 1, 2004, size 3,609 bytes filtered (processed by TBUL), URL: msgid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ...But the message is NOT moved to the destination folder. It simply stays where it is, and is not marked as read. My filter settings are as follows: Source folder: Inbox Move message to folder: \\\TBUL Filter string: Reply-to:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Location: Kludges Presence: Yes Rule is: Active Actions: Mark the message as read Options: Regular expressions ...What am I doing wrong? -- Chris Using The Bat! v2.11 on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 4 Current version is 2.11.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hi Chris, On Wednesday, June 02, 2004 10:04 your local time, which was Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 18:04 my local time, Christopher Brown wrote; I am disappointed. My filters still don't work. Nothing seems to happen automatically. You're not the only one! I'm running an exact copy of my mail on IMAP and POP3 and I'm using the same filters (obviously using the different folders for different connections) and they work perfectly on POP3, but do nothing on IMAP!? At least manual filtering does not cause the message base corruption problems I experienced with earlier versions. Instead, nothing happens (other than that the log is updated). I can run a manual filter and everything would move fine. I'd then receive a few more mails and run the same filters and nothing would happen. I restart TB! and the manually trigger the filters and everything would move as requested!? Hello Christopher, Wednesday, June 2, 2004, 12:04:14 PM, you wrote: I am disappointed. My filters still don't work. Nothing seems to happen automatically. Interestingly, automatic refiltering was working reasonably well for me on Beta 6 (aside from the fact that folders into which messages were filtered did not indicate there were new messages until the folder was selected), however it seems in 2.11 there is no auto-filtering. Was it intentionally removed for the release version? -- Dave Using The Bat! v2.11 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Current version is 2.11.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: v2.11, IMAP auto-filtering
Hi Christopher others, in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] you wrote: CB ...But the message is NOT moved to the destination folder. It CB simply stays where it is, and is not marked as read. Yes can confirm filtering is still not working properly in v2.11 IMAP. Although messages filtered from my IMAP folders seem to disappear entirely! 'Re-filtering' my IMAP trash folder into a common trash folder with the filter below: BeginFilter Name: Purge Trash Active: 1 Source: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Target: \\\Trash CopyFolder: none MainSet: 00@ Actions: faDelServer, faoAdvOlder AgeOlder: 5 EndFilter Does 'catch' them, though they are not moved but simply dissappear from TB and are marked as deleted on the server. This has been the case with two other test filters designed to move messages from IMAP folders into common 'Archive' folders. NB filter did not 'catch' anything at all when synchorisation method was 'headers only'. Only fully synchronised messages seem to be caught in filter. This mirrors other behaviour in TB IMAP, when, for example, trying to move a message manually between folders or delete it (at least on my machine) the message needs to be fully downloaded. Could this be a factor in your filter not moving messages? -- David Boggon [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ If you would know what the Lord God thinks of money, you have only to look at those to whom he gave it. - Morris Bearing Using The Bat! 2.11 on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Current version is 2.11.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
