Re: write Central European characters in templates
Cze Cyrille, w 4 lipca 2004 o 20:02 napisae w wiadomoci mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] midzy innymi: No! My Windows is English and the default codepage of my system is 'Western'. I do not see then why TB should behave differently in your case. How do you input the Polish text? For the text above I have a QT! I have written all with Polish characters and today I have seen that the characters have not been anymore there! Why? Therefore I wrote it once more! Do you manage to type Polish in other applications? I have only problems with templates and addressbooks! I can wirte Polish characters in eMails and I can see them there. I'm also in the Polish lista dyskusyjna! Because I live now in Poland I write many in this language though I must learn many in this matter. My wife is from Poland but she don't speak German! With Word I don't have problems! I only wrote in the mailinglist concerning this matter, because I think that it is very necessary. Ritlabs is in Moldavia and they normally must know this. I wrote about this problems more than 2 years. Do you have Polish names in your addressbook and do you get the Polish letters in it, when you write to one? I, not! I see then only for example Kudlacik and not Kudacik or Rafal and not Rafa! I have written to you personally, because I think, that Polish language is not interesting for the people in the lists. -- Serdeczne pozdrowienia Roland PGP-Key: 0x0D023C45 (DH/DSS) Uzywam The Bat! wersja 2.12 Beta/7 w Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1! write Central European characters in templates (was: poor Unicode support)
Witaj Roland, Saturday, July 3, 2004, 6:21:10 PM, you wrote: Unicode is also for me very urgent, because I cannot write Polish characters in the addressbooks and in all templates and quick templates! You can!!! My templates generate Polish text with plenty of beautiful , ,,,...etc. I suppose that the default codepage of your system is 'Western'. This is why TB displays instead of the Central European characters the characters which have the in the Western character table the same position. TB does this in the address book, the templates, and in the menus (if you switch TB's menu language to Polish), but not in the message editor if you choose the right charset for the message. If you switched you system's default codepage to Central European, you would not have this problem any more. (But other problems (-: ...) What I do is that I have (and type) Polish text in the templates, and I accept that it is displayed wrongly (I don't care because I want templates to work and not to look nice). As soon as these templates generate text in a message everything displays correctly. Of course, my Polish templates also set the charset to ISO-8859-2. This works also for Russian. But you are right. Everything would be easier, if TB supported unicode properly. -- Best regards, Cyrille mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] [ TB! 2.11.02, Windows ME 4.90 Build 3000, Pentium 233Mhz with 95MB ] Current version is 2.11.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
