For some time, I had been living "dangerously" by not doing proper backups. Thas changed now: I have greatly increased by hard drive size, and also now have a cloud backup solution. Shortly, I will also have an additional local backup. Although, I had occasionally saved all of my Bat files to an external hard drive, this was not something that was regularly scheduled. I thus discovered, that there was no .tbk file on my computer's hard drive. I have fixed that. I just ran my first backup to that file and have scheduled daily backups. Reading through the documentation, about backups, however, it is clear to me that if that daily backup is stored to the "cloud," one is still at risk for losing up to a day's worth of correspondence. While it is true that, in the event of a catastrophic hard drive failure, I could download to a restored hard drive all maill that was received in the previous 24 hours, since that mail will still be on the servers - both the gmail acount mail as well as mail run through the server that handles my private domain name, any sent mail, which is only resident on my hard drive, would be lost. I could set up a routine that always sends mail to myself, such that sent mail is run through the gmail and private domain servers, but I see that is merely clogging up my system and duplicates. Merely backing up the .tbk file to the cloud does not solve the issue of having real time backups of messages generated bewteen the daily backups. Would a better solution be to set my cloud back to do continuous backups and then to include the The Bat! folder and all subfolders as part of the regular backup. That way all the .TBB files, which hold the messages, would also be backed up? Does this make sense, or is there a better solution. -- Avi Avram Sacks, using The Bat!
