SMTP authentication problems with The Bat!

I've been looking for a replacement mail client for Eudora, which seems to have an intense dislike for nested multipart messages. The Bat! and several others support this well ... but either they are full of security holes like LookOut or LookOut Fast, or cumbersome like Netscape and Pegasus,
