That's because it was a shared account QT, not a common one and of
course no ghost. Anyway, glad it works for you now.

You don't need any common folder in order to have Common QTs, they are
not related to each other. As I said in my previous message, Common QTs
are in ACCOUNT.QTB file in _MAIL_ directory.

As I say above, Common QTs are totally independent of Common folders. I
have several common QTs and don't have (never had) any common folders.

Please try what I suggested in my previous message.

You may try something.
- Exit TB.
- Look for ACCOUNT.QTB file in your MAIL directory (which holds Common QTs).
- Copy it to a safe place and then delete it or rename it.
- Start TB and try to use your 'salutation' QT.
  - If it doesn't work, then you are right and it is a Common QT
  - If it does work, then my friend, it is a shared account QT

Don't forget to exit TB and get your original ACCOUNT.QTB file back in
place. TB should have created a new and empty one when exiting.

I'll add that I didn't notice the "Common Templates" heading at the
top of the list because it was out of view. Then at some point I
scrolled up or maximised the window and there it was, so I converted
all my QTs to common ones.

Yes. My QT list has a heading of "Common Templates" at the top, under
which are all my common QTs. Below that each account name appears as a
heading, but there are no QTs under the account headings as I only use
common ones.

Well, if it IS a ghost, then you should contact some other instance, such
as, f.i. Ghost Busters;
some might prefer to call a shaman, others would play safe and call Jennifer
Love-Hewitt! :-)

Seriously, such a problem can be very annoying, I had a problem with a QT
that would not work, not
set up as a address-group based QT, not as a folder template; not even
when it was used as a
contact-specific QT.

Turned out I was testing it with a contact of which the email-address was
also used in another
contact with a quite similar name (belonging to the same person), but that
did not belong to the
address-group I was working with.

So, if it is not a ghost, the only advice I can give you: don't look for the
obvious...

Where are you looking? QTs in one account can be "shared" will other
accounts.

Looks like you have that QT in one of your accounts.

Hello Assad,

Then, if you don't have any Common QTs, it must be an Account QT that is
*shared*. Shared and Common QTs work the same, they can be used in any
account. Look in your Account(s) QT list(s).

Is it a QT at all? Or are you using the %put or %include macro to
insert text from an external file.

How is it triggered?

In addition to MAU's suggestions that if it is a QT it must be
triggered manually or via the %Qinclude macro, the %QT macro is the
same as %Qinclude.

> but I cannot
> find it in the Quick Templates list. Any idea?

Is it an account-specific QT, or is it listed under "common
templates"?

If it is account-specific, is it listed under a different
account to where you are looking? It may have the "share with other
accounts" box ticked.

Are the name and the handle different?

I think you should try to give some more details of what is happening
and why you think it is because of a 'ghost' QT.

If you can't find it in the QT list, how do you know it is a QT what is
triggering/executing? AFAIK, QTs don't trigger/execute automatically,
they are either executed manually by typing its handle followed by
Ctrl+Space or because they are 'called' from another QT or template with
the %QINCLUDE macro.
