I tested aucat by enabling it as you said. mplayer does not break, and best of all, the intermittent garbling seems to have stopped. I can even launch seamonkey (firefox isn't built yet ?) and I don't experience any sort of garbling. I can do cool things like having 2 mplayer sessions at the sam
