If the printer is plugged into the same outlet or powerbar as the PC, I would
try moving it to another outlet or powerbar. They draw a lot of power when
they initialize and it may be causing a short powerloss to the PC when it kicks
in.

Our secretary had the same problem every time she turned to get the paper
out of the printer here knee hit the power button. It took me about a week
to figure out what was happening. I changed the power button to do nothing,
that fixed the problem.

I had something similar this week.
User prints to IP address of HP 1320tn laser printer.
It crashes adobe 9.3 every time. It's a PDF doc.
Ended up turning off a snmp check box on the printer driver.
No more crashes.
