Hi all OK, my talking freeview recorder just got a bit too clever for my good. It has downloaded an over-the-air update to the firmware and, of course, that update does not contain the text to speech API. Thus, my recorder which was a talking machine is no longer a talking machine. So, I'm going to have to try and figure out how to install the firmware again, only this time the version that does contain the TTS API.
There I was, all set up to do a podcast on the recorder when I suddenly realised that my box was no longer talking. It had reset a lot of my options and was now as inaccessible as just about every other recorder I've ever used. So, if you own one of these things, watch out! Watch out! There's an update about!
