I finally found a solution to this problem.
If I install alsa-plugins-pulseaudio then ALSA audio also works on my
desktop computer.
But why this difference?

I have F36 installed on my laptop and desktop computer.
On my desktop computer apps using other audio frameworks than ALSA work fine,
while apps using ALSA are silent.
On my laptop everything works fine.
"alsactl -info" lists all the hardware on my desktop.
When using an app that uses ALSA audio
Here is a screenshot of pavucontrol on my laptop while running an app that
uses ALSA.
The app is listed in the Playback tab, while on my desktop the item isn't
listed and the app is silent.
