Hi David,

Thanks for these reports. I'm going to start testing XFCE soon (right now
I'm using KDE), and these reports are very useful to me. So please, keep
them coming.
Sad to hear about your ex, hope things get better soon. Your patience is
admirable.

There are more warnings about plugins being deprecated in Gimp 3, but I

Re: Testing Workstation

2019-08-26 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hello all,

Alessio, the user I mentioned didn't touch SELinux to fix this issue.
That's why I said I don't think it's related. I'm not saying they are the
same bug, only saying there was a similar issue and it didn't seem to be
related to SELinux. And in that issues, the options were greyed out. So
yes, *I am *talking about another issues.
About the automatic time zone, disabling that didn't make the list
available for change.
The problem is that it wasn't my computer and I'm still searching who had
this problem to ask for more details.

All for now,
Lailah

Re: Testing Workstation

2019-08-24 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Adam,

You sent the same link twice.
I'm not sure is that about SELinux. They didn't see any SELinux alert, but
the option, tab or whatever it is called in Gnome for changing timezones
was greyed out. Even after unlocking it, it was impossible to choose
because it remained greyed/disabled.

Re: Testing Workstation

2019-08-24 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hi all,

I saw someone in the Fedora group in Telegram with similar problems. One
was that he or she (I can't remember) couldn't setup timezones unless doing
some sort of weird of workaround. And when travelling had to do the same
every time the timezone changed. The other was that the initial setup
didn't start and they had no admin password.

Re: Media writer

2019-05-15 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hi Kamil,

Not really. They could have got their install medium from an event, a
conference, a friend or a colleague, university or college... Maybe they
didn't even install the system themselves. Often someone with some
knowledge of Linux install it in their
relatives/friends/partners/colleagues/classmates laptop or computer. Also,
a person may want to try other systems or maybe they didn't know about
Spins and Labs and now they want to give them a go. Maybe they made their
install medium in another system and now what? Asking someone to borrow
them 15 minutes to make another install medium?
I always thought it was a bit strange that Media Writer is not installed by
default.

Kind regards,
Silvia

Hello,

If you're referring to the email I sent, then I'm afraid I explained myself
horribly. I didn't mean to say that the SOAS team moved to Ubuntu. What I
said is that the continuation of the OLPC project in a specific country
(Uruguay, South America) moved to Ubuntu. The OLPC laptops with SOAS are
still Fedora as far as I can tell.
Links to what I was trying to explain are listed below:
Ceibal Project (OLPC in Uruguay)

OLPC

Hope this clarify my words.

Re: Spins testing and vanishing?

2018-12-08 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hello folks,

About SOAS: SOAS stands for "Sugar on a stick" so it's not meant to be
used as a installed system but live from the USB stick or memory. However,
SOAS was used as installed system in the earlier versions of XO/OLPC
laptops. Later versions used Fedora with two desktops installed, Gnome &
Sugar. The continuation of this project in Uruguay, switched to Ubuntu and
as far as I can tell, it still uses that system. So, the option to install
SOAS exists and it's possible but with some tweaking, it's not the default
behaviour nor the purpose of this Spin.
Also, as Adam said, you can install Sugar like any other desktop, in your
system.
Hope this helps.

Hello all,

While I have an interesting bug in Dnfdragora, I don't think it's super
urgent, so if you want, we can skip this week and have a meeting the other
week?
I have one or two other little issues I'd like to discuss, but again
nothing to die for.

AFAIK, src stands for source. I don't know why it's there though.

Re: [Test-Announce] 2018-03-05 @ 16:00 UTC - Fedora QA Meeting

2018-03-03 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hi everyone,

I've been talking with other people and apparently is quite common to
have issues with HP laptops. F25 works but F27 doesn't, with an
extreme case of not booting at all.
In my case I suspect of Wayland, provided other desktops/spins did
work. But maybe I'm wrong or it's not the only one in fault. I can
provide hardware details in the meeting.

Silvia
