Thanks Alessio for sharing details. Does fedora also pay for the efforts
users put on? Or this is public interest only?

Hello Khbaib, and welcome.

Do you have a FAS account? If yes, what is your username?

This list will get updates on different testing related activities.
Subscribing the test-announce mailing list [0] could be useful as well.

You can start to test updates in Bodhi [1] for Fedora 34 and Fedora 35.
Update testing is where a tester tests a package and gives out a +1
Karma for PASS and -1 Karma for FAIL. You can go to

packages (enable the updates-testing repository!).

Running release validation tests [3] [4] could be useful, even if we
are still on Rawhide.

We usually involve ourselves in activities marked in [5], you can catch
us mostly at #fedora-qa on freenode IRC, Matrix or Telegram.

A test day [6] is coming in the upcoming weeks: stay tuned.

If you have any question, please ask!

Hey Rudra,

Welcome to Fedora QA, It will be great if you apply for qa FAS group. If
you have, I have sponsored you by now. If you haven’t then please apply and
send me an email with your FAS ID and I will approve.

You can start off by testing updates in [http://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/]
for Fedora 28, Fedora 29, and Fedora 30. Update testing is where a tester
tests a package and gives out a +1 Karma for PASS and -1 Karma for FAIL.
You can go to bodhi.fedoraproject.org where you can sort the packages with
Fedora Releases and tags viz “pending” & “testing”. You can read much about
update testing here [1]. You can also, use fedora-easy-karma for giving out
feedbacks.
You can start with Release Validation testing. In Release Validation all
you need to do is to check the nightly/TC/RC against certain criteria. For
example, let’s take the latest compose (Fedora 30 Branched 20190415.n.2),
you can run test cases which are mentioned [2] and submit your results in
the test matrix.

Note that each of the test cases[3] will have “How to test” section which
will have the steps (to be executed sequentially) and if the results match
with the expected results you can mark it as pass by editing the wiki page
{{result|PASS|}}. Always make sure to check for “Associated
release criterion” which can be found on the top of test case page, if your
test case fails you can mark it fail by editing the wiki page
{{result|FAIL|}} and file a bug at RHBZ [4] under Fedora.

You can always find the ‘current’ validation pages using these addresses:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Installation_Test
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Base_Test
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Desktop_Test
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Server_Test
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Cloud_Test

For Automation, you can start looking at Open QA[

Hi there,

My name is Antonette Caldwell. I'm interested in helping with QA. I have
somewhat of a background in Linux, but I try my best to do more in Linux
to remember the commands needed to get what I need done. I first came
across Fedora 26 back in my Fall 2015 when I took my first Linux course.
I was interested and blown away at the simplicity of the distribution. I
started studying and trying out other distributions, and I found that I
like how Fedora works. Fedora works for one part of me that I use it for.

I am currently 28, and married with three children. I currently work as
a help desk tech for General Dynamics, and I am looking to upgrade my
Linux skills for DevOps. I would like to test things out and see how
they work, and break them down and build them back up.

Thanks for taking the time to read and accept me into the group.

Hi Zack, and welcome!

There are no rules about what to do first. The Join page lists several
choices, and they're all good - just pick one which feels most
comfortable to you. As we're between 21 and 22 there are no Test Days
coming up right away, but you could certainly try testing updates for
Fedora 19, 20 or 21 -
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Updates_Testing - helping with the
early Fedora 22 testing we're trying to do this cycle -
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test-announce/2014-December/000969.html
 - and/or continue testing Rawhide in your VM and reporting bugs you
find (just having people running Rawhide and filing problems as they
come along is really valuable).

It usually works best to try doing some of the actual QA 'work' first
and then maybe get involved with planning and improving processes once
you've got a feel for the system and maybe some ideas about what could
work better, I find.

Thanks for volunteering!

contribute. I am just starting to learn python and have no other coding
skills, except for a tiny bit of bash scripting.

I lurked the QA meeting today and have read through the join page. I do
have a bugzilla account and a FAS account, but I'm not sure where to get
started or what I should do first.

I'm occasionally on IRC as #aikidouke and am usually reachable at this e
mail.

Thanks,
Zach
