I have make the following test:
1. A simple LaTeX document, which uses the EC fonts %----------------------------------- \documentclass{article} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \begin{document} This is a Test. \end{document} %----------------------------------- 2. The resulting dvi file can be viewed with `xdvi' without problems. 3. I get the archive ftp://ftp.dante.de/tex-archive/systems/vtex/common/vtex-fonts2.zip from CTAN (attention: 24MB!). This archive contains files with extension .pfb and basenames of the EC fonts. These fonts are encoded and can be used only with VTeX. 4. I show my test dvi file again with the unpacked fonts in the same directory: T1_LoadFont(): Loading font with ID = 0 failed! (mode = -2) Could not load T1 font ecrm1000 from ecrm1000 alias ./ecrm1000.pfb I think `xdvi' should use the pk fonts in the case of unusable Type-1-fonts. ...Rolf -- || Rolf Niepraschk c/o Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt || || Abbestr. 2-12; D-10587 Berlin, Germany || || Tel/Fax: ++49-30-3481-316/490, email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ||
