Re: [tex-k] secure mode of dvips should be default
For screen PDF of course. For multipurpose (i.e. either for screen and for printer, i.e. as a whole replacement of PK) like to BlueSky ones I don't think so. Look for instance at a magnified o in CMR (see the attach) from differ.pdf. I'll ask the author of TeXtrace whether this artefact is a problem of resolution or a bug in the autotrace package. Werner

See for instance here: ftp://ftp.ascii.co.jp/pub/TeX/ascii-ptex/dvips/ have you looked at it, Giuseppe? Is there any reason why the patches cannot be merged into the normal distribution? It doesn't make sense to do that. ptex is too special -- it isn't a `dvips+CJK', it is a `dvips+Japanese' only, AFAIK. Werner

[snip] While I have your ear, I have been looking for the most recent version of the old dviselect and dviconcat originally developed by Chris Torek at the University of Maryland. If they have disappeared, as they seem to have, what takes their place? They are a lot more convenient than trying to muck around with postscript files directly. The most recent I'm aware of is CTAN:dviware/dvibook. --Paul Vojta, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
