Hi,

I am pleased to announce a new teTeX pretest release. Download from
  ftp://ftp.dante.de/tex-archive/systems/unix/teTeX-beta/teTeX-src-beta-20020129.tar.gz
or use any other CTAN mirror. It might take a few hours until dante and
the other CTAN hosts and mirros pick up the file from my server.

This one contains some very new and sometimes experimental stuff:
  * xdvik-22.40g with type1 rendering and source special support
  * dvips-5.86f which contains some new and not-yet very well tested
    partial font downloading code (supports downloading one font with
    more than one encoding)

This version also contains a new too, texdoctk, which is included in
the source tree from now on, but will not work until I release a new
version of the texmf tree.

The same stuff as in the latest teTeX-beta:
  * omega 1.23
  * unreleased pretest web2c version (7.3.7 pretest) with source special
    support
  * fmtutil now handles metafont / metapost formats, too
  * portability fixes
  * IPC (for TeX) enabled by default
  * pdfTeX 1.00a-pretest-20011114-ojmw

I am still bringing the texmf tree up-to-date and a new (beta) release
of that will follow as soon as this is finnished.

Be careful and do not use it on a production system. I have only compiled
and run it on Linux (SuSE 7.2) so far. Report any bugs that you find to
