Re: fmtutil: config file `fmtutil.cnf' not found.

2003-02-28 Thread MARK ROBERT HALE

Hi,

The precise problem also occurs on Sun Solaris 9 for Intel (not
Sparc). I have not even had time to track it down in any
detail (I just reboot to Linux), but would really like to see
a solution. I'll try looking at it tonight, if no one else
has any great ideas.

I'm using gcc rather than sun compilers, by the way, if that's
relevant.

  Hi,

 running Solaris 2.6 (uname -a: SunOS bineshi 5.6 Generic_105181-33 sun4m sparc
 SUNW,SPARCstation-20) using gcc2.8.1 .

I've come across a problem I don't seem to be able to solve myself. Any
 help would be most appreciated.

When issuing 'make world' I get the following error message:

The file in question does exist at /local2/teTeX/share/texmf/web2c but somehow
make doesn't find it. I had a look around and saw that other people have had
similar problems. They were solved when they realized that an environment
variable (TEXMF) had inadvertently been set. The output of 'env' on my machine
(see below) does not suggest the presence of any such environment variable.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

 Many thanks,

 Lukas

LUkas,

Try having a look at a previous problem I posted---it looks the same
to me. Apparently, your system is not detected as UNIX at some points.
Thomas Esser gave me a solution. The thread subject was kpathsea and
BeOS. (Sorry, but do not have access to the message text now, so I
can not give you the exact solution).

Re: fmtutil: config file `fmtutil.cnf' not found.

2003-02-28 Thread Lukas Keller

Hi again,

Many thanks to Alberto Molina for directing me toward the solution for the
problem. The issue had come up before with BeOS, and Thomas Esser's suggested
solution can be found at:

   http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg01805.html

I followed this and added the following to my cnf.c:

 #elif defined (_sparc_)
 #define unix

This solved the problem and everything worked nicely thereafter.

For those who are interested, I first tried Olaf Weber's suggestion which
can be found at:
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg01809.html

Perhaps I made a mistake when changing cnf.c, but while ftmutil.cnf was
found just fine after that change, the compilation ended with lots of errors.
If anyone is interested I can email them a partial log of the errors created.

Thanks to all who made suggestions,

 Lukas
