Dearest Bob, good morning from eastern Sicily,

I sincerely thank you for your kind reply. Regarding the Gregorian music
code, I must inform you that I have no expertise in Gregorian music either.

As far as I remember, I sent the email about how to obtain the "Guia"
symbol to all the maintainers of MusixTeX (https://ctan.org/pkg/musixtex),
and the response I gave here:
https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/735465/missing-guia-symbol-in-gregorian-chant-musixgre-library?noredirect=1#comment1834165_735465
was merely a kind of challenge.

At present, I do not know anyone with experience in TeX who might be
willing to become the maintainer of *musixgre.tex*. I believe that, first
and foremost, such a person should have knowledge of musical notes and
sheet music. Personally, since I do not fully understand either sheet music
or notes, I do not think that the maintainers of *gregorio.tex*, such as
Élie Roux, Henry So, and Fr. Samuel Springuel, would be willing to take on
this role.

I remain available for anything I am capable of assisting with and send you
my best regards.
Sebastiano

Sebastiano: Thank you for this report. Unfortunately, there is no record
of who contributed musixgre.tex in 1997 (or even earlier) and I have no
expertise in Gregorian music. I suggest you find someone with some TeX
expertise who might be willing to become the maintainer of musixgre.tex.

That person should copy musixgre.tex to a personal directory, modify it as
necessary and distribute it to other gregorian music enthusiasts. When
it's tested, it should be e-mailed directly to me at my current address (
[email protected]) and I will replace musixgre.tex in the next revision
of the musixtex package. I should also be advised on how Section 25.15 of
the musixdoc manual should be revised.

Best,
Bob Tennent

Hello Sebastiano,

I remember this name from the time I used OpusTeX for Gregorian chants. This
was more than 10 years ago or even 20 years ago. Maybe you could ask him about
the symbols.

The following page contains an e-mail link.
https://www.muri-gries.ch/OpusTeX/OpusTeX.html

You would get this symbol in OpusTeX by using \custos. So I assume that OpusTeX
uses fonts that have this symbol.

As far as I remember, the license of OpusTeX might be problematic, but I don't
know what license applies to the font. If Beda Szukics is the author he might
be able to re-license it if necessary.

I checked the linked page
https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/735465/missing-guia-symbol-in-gregorian-chant-musixgre-library?noredirect=1#comment1834165_735465

This page contains references to Gregorio but no mention of OpusTeX..

Best regards,
Bodo

Here I have a printed MusiXTeX manual of 1997. it says:

"symbols available in MuisXTeX are mainly those of the 1905 standard, as
provided by Beda Szukics"

Hope this helps :-)

specifically Version 1.38, Revised March 29, 2024. In the section 25.15.2
"Elementary symbols" on page 134, I have noticed that there is no MusixGre
symbol that allows for the notation of the "Guia" symbol, which has the
shape of a small virga with the stem up (either left or right). This symbol
is placed at the end of the tetragram and is used to indicate the next note.
