Martin: please see https://tug.org/pipermail/tex4ht/2018q3/001984.html and thread following about slow operation handling a huge document (not surprising in my view). Is it perhaps possible to cache results so that dvisvgm does not have to recompute every math fragment every time? Any other

Follow-up Comment #4, bug #394 (project tex4ht): Using SELFAUTOPARENT at all will not work on Debian, as things stand. It's easiest to hardwire it to /usr/share/texlive. Maybe if that directory exists, use it, else use SELFAUTOPARENT. Alternatively, if SELFAUTOPARENT expands to /, look for

Follow-up Comment #4, bug #395 (project tex4ht): It seems somewhat strange to replace one constant with another constant, thus merely delaying the problem until someone writes a complex-enough luatex document (?), but I guess it's not worth worrying about trying to get the "last open write

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #395 (project tex4ht): 1) is our \write16 just intended to write to the .log file? I'm not sure. But if so, I believe \write-1 will work across all engines. 2) In any case, we should surely make \immediate\write16 into a macro (in common-code.tex and tex4ht.sty? not

much faster than using Vbox or cygwin or miktex on windows. I wonder if the issue is dvisvgm needing to call out to an external gs process on these Windows machines, instead of linking against libgs. Anyway, if you want to pursue it further, the author of dvisvgm is Martin Gieseking

Hi Nasser, The above phase of the compile is the one that takes for ever. I'm not surprised that running dvisvgm on a 13000+ page DVI file (even if many pages are empty) takes a long time. Let's see, 5515 seconds means it's doing better than a page in a half-second, it just adds up to 90+

It seems that Dvisvgm has some issue with the idv file. Your situation seems to have moved on, but if in the future you have another document that makes dvisvgm fail, it can be reported to its author. There is no great need to "minimize" the example, what's needed is the DVI that induces the

nameref.4ht has been in TL since 2005 or so. And it is not system-specific, so there's no apparent way it could fail to be installed on Cygwin. I don't understand. -k
