FYI, the awards ceremony went off without a hitch, the roof stayed on the hall
and there was no severe weather like last year. The banquet room was almost
full, the food was good, and the entire banquet was very well organized, from

WTF? No devastating storms this year at the NSS convention And I missed
it. Maybe I've been bringing them with me..
Anyway, glad it went off without a hitch or hiccup. Sounds like a missed a
good one!

Today was a good day. When Caleb and I got to the hospital, Mallory was like
a totally different person. She was happy to see us, and talked to us. An
actual, real conversation. She inquired several times about the condition of
Rex, who had been involved in the accident.
This report really has me tearing up. That is our Mallory on the way back for
sure. She's right, it still sucks, and she has every right to be pissed off
about it. But now she can use those feelings to help her get better.
Way to go, Mal! Keep kicking ass...

Is this the Bill Stephens that was instrumental in helping with the
cable-ladder contest at TCR back in the mid to late 80's ? I think that
guy also won lots of cable-ladder contest, and taught lots of kids and
newbie cavers how to properly climb a cable-ladder.

Congratulations to Bill Stephens and Marvin Miller, new Fellows of the National
Speleological Society. My apologies if I've missed any other Texans.

FAR OUT! I don't think I have ever met Bill, but Marvin I have known for many
years. Many congrats to both of you. I know how hard you have to work to
reach this achievement and I know it is not given lightly.

Stefan REALLY wants to get the local lake levels back up. Most are down some
30-40 feet. As Eugene Ebell used to say about his beautiful albeit dry
travertine dams at Cave Without a Name, What we need here is a good 10 rain.
Five years in row of those would make him a happy man ;)
