I followed up on a tip, despite the sensor indicated river levels, and drove
through the TCR site today, at Guadalupe RV park on the Guadalupe River and
things look very nice. The grass is cut and green and the river is flowing
nicely passed the campgrounds. Looking good out there!

I lived in Dallas in late 1987 for about a year and attended several caving
functions were he was not only present but actively involved in.
He offered me a ride to one event, but I can't remember what it was. My
Joe Pearce mentioned Bill Helmer.That is a name I haven't heard spoke
of in
caving circles in a while.When I was a newbie, sitting around the
campfire in
Carta Valley, or somewhere out west, cavers spoke of him like a legend.

In the late 1950's when I first became interested in caving, I enjoyed seeing
Helmer's clever Texas Caver covers and other art work. I don't have them now
