Around 1985, the A.S.S. had a Mexican newbie from the bordertown of Nuevo
Laredo.

His father was a customs agent at a time we were struggling to get our
speleo-vehicles across the border.

His family rolled out the red-carpet for about 4 or 5 A.S.S trips even
after he left A&M, and they helped me once when I was sort of stranded in
Nuevo Laredo.  I lost track of him in 1987, but  I tried to stay in touch
with his parents in the late 80s when I would go frolick in Nuevo Laredo.

I tracked him down yesterday via a distant cousin of his on Facebook.    I
deleted his reply as spam the first time he tried to contact me back.

We just had our first communication by email.

Hopefully, we will reconnect.
