>From her mother: Today was a good day for both Mal and me. Yesterday I was a bit nervous about the move, changing the ambulance time and then being 45 minutes late to pick her up. But today was good.
Mallory is doing better in several ways. They took her off oxygen so she is breathing by herself through the trachea tube and changed it to one that allows air to go around it to encourage her to breathe through her nose. Her vitals are better, and she quit kicking so much and actually slept today. She had to be exhausted after the last few days of constant kicking. She is calmer. Did well with PT and OT. They moved her in and out of her wheelchair to exercise her. She responds more when they exercise her. She gave smiles 2, 3, and 4 today. Two smiles to the guy who took her for another cat scan of her brain, and one to the chaplain. It is so good to see. She also was seen by the speech therapist, dietician, respiratory therapist, doctor twice, a neuropsychologist, and a social worker. She is a busy little girl. You should have seen the grimace she made when she saw herself in the mirror the first time. The OT had to test her to see if she could wash her hands and face as part of their test. She saw that shaved off head in the front and the rest of it all knotted up in a ponytail holder very messily. She was not happy. I wish I had a picture of that. It so surprised the OT and me. Mal had her first shower and real hair wash since the accident. They put her in a wheelchair. She looks better, has to feel better. My poor baby still had blood in her hair in the back where we couldn't get to it before. I am trying to save her hair. It is matted from laying on it and constantly moving her head. I have been working on it and making progress but it is constant interruptions with the stuff they have to do. Those things are more important than her hair. Some nurses encourage me to shave her head to match the front but I am not willing to do that yet. This will be a turtle deal. Slow but sure. I am pleased so far with Tirr. Everything was very professional and organized. Happy people work there. Had to go buy her exercise shorts. She has a ton of t-shirts but I just had to buy one matching outfit that is extremely bright green. It was so cute, but she will stand out in the gym. I love bright exercise clothes. Please keep praying. We want or Mal back. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Visit our website: http://texascavers.com To unsubscribe, e-mail: texascavers-unsubscr...@texascavers.com For additional commands, e-mail: texascavers-h...@texascavers.com
