The crystal in the attached photo is allegedly 1/4 inch long and allegedly formed on the surface of Mars.
Dr. Halliday would call this a speleothem because it likely formed by a similar process - gravity, capillary-pressure, mineralization from solid to liquid back to solid, etc..
