[Texascavers] CaveSim

2019-02-04 Thread Jim Kennedy
CaveSim is coming back to Austin for the Austin Cave Festival later this month,
and Dave Jackson is looking for help with CaveSim programs at Austin schools.
Dave has been doing school programs with CaveSim for almost 9 years, so the
programs run really smoothly with enough helpers. If you help with a CaveSim
program, you get to do things like teach kids about SRT on a 12' A-frame, teach
them about Search & Rescue using a Sked, help them use a squeezebox, and help
Dave with demos (carbide, field phones, knots, etc.) Dave and Mary Hicks will
be in town doing CaveSim programs from February 15th through March 4th, and can
use help on 2/15, 2/20, 2/21, 2/25-28, and 3/4. If you're interested in
helping, contact Dave by email at jacksond...@cavesim.com, or on Facebook (look
up CaveSim and send a message). Thank you

[Texascavers] CaveSim

2016-07-31 Thread Jim Kennedy via Texascavers
Cavers,

I was talking to Dave Jackson at the NSS Convention a couple of weeks ago, and
he was wondering if we wanted CaveSim at TCR again this year. He would love to
come again, but I think we had to raise about $1500 last year to cover his
expenses. TCR Honcho Don Arburn said it was very popular, but he doesn't have
time this year to raise the money. Is anyone out there in caverland willing to
take on this responsibility? It's a great addition to TCR.

[Texascavers] [CaveSim at TCR!]

2015-06-10 Thread Don Arburn via Texascavers
Cavers, I am pleased to announce that Dave Jackson and his cave simulator,
CaveSim, is available to come to TCR at Paradise Canyon this October.
Available. He needs fuel money to get here. Two individuals and two grottos
have already committed to donating to the cause - to the tune of $700! Thanks
Sheryl, Jerry, Bexar and PBSS grottos! We are halfway there! We need a total of
$1,500 for a day visit. An additional day would be an additional $300.
The CaveSim is an awesome facsimile and caver skills tester. I personally took
part in Alabama, during the NSS convention, in running it, it was VERY popular.
The CaveSim was at Paradise Canyon a couple years back and there are local
Cavers defending time score titles!
I challenge you.
In addition to the REAL caves in the park, let's get the CaveSim here too!
TCR is forking over $50 to help, bringing the grand total to $750, what can
your group do?

Bill,

In a free market economy, the proper response would be for you to make your own
CaveSim but charge a competitive price, thereby undercutting their business,
rather than complaining about their prices.

Time is money in my book.
