[Texascavers] TCMA Elections
Hello cavers – The Texas Cave Management Association will have elections soon for three open Board of Directors positions. Nominations are open until September 25, 2019. If you are interesting in running for the board, please contact either Linda Palit at lkpa...@sbcglobal.net or Denise Prendergast at pepabe...@hotmail.com. Ballots will go out October 1st via email. To Current Members of the Texas Cave Management Association, Elections are now open for a new slate of Directors. If you will not be able to vote using the new electronic system and wish to vote in this election, you need to write me with your best USPS address to receive a paper ballot. Ballots will be mailed back one to each current member of the TCMA. You will need to promptly return the card (postmarked by October 24th) as the election clerks will do the final count later that week. You will need to provide an envelope with stamp and then post your ballot to the TCMA post office box. Please give me a call if you have questions. The TCMA membership approved changes to our by-laws at 2011 TSA Spring Convention. One of the changes dealt with Elections of Directors. The new language was written to be very open, simply calling for a yearly election of new directors to re-elect/replace those with expiring terms. Said Directors would need to request a ballot position in writing, and those ballots would be submitted to the membership for a vote. Usually the Board of Directors would decide the details of the elections, but since this by-laws revision has to do with Elections of Directors, there could be conflicts of interest. To remedy possible issues, the membership voted on and approved a motion to participate in writing the actual Policy Procedures of this elections by-law. A committee has been established to write these procedures. A minimum of 10 non-Board members are needed to help write the PnP for this. Some Directors will participate too. These new clarified elections procedures need to be completed by July 7, 2011 and will be instituted for Director Elections this Fall. This is an opportunity for the membership to participate and make your voice heard or concerns known. I do not think it will take long to write the basic outline of elections procedures since Saj Zapitello already has some excellent suggestions ready to go. If too few general members participate in this committee the elections procedures will be decided by the Board. If you are a TCMA member and willing to do email correspondence, conference calls, and possibly an in-person meeting, I would be glad to have you on this committee.
