Re: [Texascavers] Texas attendees to NSS Conv ?
I will save you all some money. I can't go this year. I have lost my mojo - probably for good. The drive to Albuquerque last year nearly killed me. I am in worse physical and mental shape now than I was then. On a related note to Montana: I lived near Boseman, Montana in a remote forest-ranger camp in the spring of 1970 for at least 2 months ( Marcsh & April ? ). I was hoping to drive around Boseman and look for anything familiar. The very fuzzy tiny memory is a thick forest and hills mostly covered in deep snow, and once riding a snowmobile, etc. That was a very *#% time in my life, but I became a lifetime fan of Smokey Bear while I was there. We also visited Yellowstone just before coming home. That very brief Yellowstone Park visit is the only memory I have of my biological father and mother together - certainly, the only one with just the three of us. Also, I toured Louis & Clark Caverns about December, 1969, and so began my interest in things like caves. I had little to no exposure to the outdoors prior to that ( meaning my toddler years - late 60's ). You all have a safe trip. I know it will be fun. Re: [Texascavers] Texas attendees to NSS Conv ?
I,ll be driving up on Thursday morn before convention. No room for Locklear. Will be going to Lewis and Clark Caverns, the Devils Tower, Wind & Jewell Caves and want to see Mount Rushmore. Whats in Nebraska that I might want to see on the way back. I'been to Boot Hill in Kansas. Maybe see the cave in OK. Name escapes me at this moment.Have the week off after the convention. I hope you will look me up at the convention. I hope that Texas will be well represented in Montana. I have a new 2018 Subaru to get me there and back. 24 1/4 hour drive. Gonna due it in one shot, or at least try. LATTER ! David, as our NSS Pres Geary said to me "cheapest flight is Southwest to Spokane". I checked, he is correct. I booked flight and rental car. No obsessing needed if you do that right now. Unless of course you like that part. I'm planning on going and making a full vacation out of it, visiting some of the beautiful country on the way and near Helena.
