Sabarimala pilgrimagewith “Irumuti Kettu” over the head is just over a
fortnight back. Whoever bethe person, one can climb the eighteen steps only
with IRUMUTIKETTU over thehead. The filling of offerings and personal items
before pilgrimage is called Kettu

only from Skanda puranam, a later scripture. It has many versions; war
victory; birth of skanda; parvathi curse cured; magnanimity of the mother's
VEL; etc. Tamilnadu and Kerala have widespread bhakthi movements of
