Comment:

 paginate() is not designed to support calculated fields at this point in
 time. There is an open enhancement for this feature though #5220. Since
 it seems you found a solution to your issue, I'm closing this ticket. If
 you feel your issue is unresolved please reopen with a way to reproduce
 your issue or a test case. Thanks :)

CakePHP : The Rapid Development Framework for PHP https://trac.cakephp.org/
Cake is a rapid development framework for PHP which uses commonly known design
patterns like ActiveRecord, Association Data Mapping, Front Controller and MVC.
Our primary goal is to provide a structured framework that enables PHP users at
all levels to rapidly develop robust web applications, without any loss to
flexibility.

 $this-paginate[ ' contain ' ]=array(
 'Historico'=array(
 'fields'=array('descricao')),
 'Status'=array(
 'fields'=array('periodo','nome')),
 'Departamento'=array(
 'fields'=array('DeDepartamento'))
 );

 Departamento is a field of other 'database' table
 Model can create a query with diferent databases, but cannot sort(order
 by) used for paginate

 A ugly poor especific solution i attaching in this ticket.
