so
when i create a new tiddler, the default text is as follows:

How do you create this tiddler - via the New Tiddler button in the
sidebar, and then said text appears in edit mode?
Can you provide a test case:

actually, the error i'm not that concerned about. it's fully
ignorable.
my MAIN concern is that the autosave pref won't save. any way i can
make it save automatically (even by editing the file directly) would
be just fine with me.

I have had mixed results with the built in Import function - I have
been using

Might try a fresh, empty 2.5 - and re import. ..
