Hi Hegart,

good to see you back on track. I am very sorry to hear about your health
issues and hope you will fully recover in the next weeks.

Regarding your DropBox hosting, there is udog.co which
hosts your stuff from there. I did not try it by myself but it looks
promising.

Cheers
Tristan

[tw] Re: Hegart is back, kind of...

2016-10-04 Thread Hegart Dmishiv
Thanks everyone for taking the time to welcome me back. I agree with
*@Jeremy* and others about "the recuperative power of hacking TiddlyWiki".
It is seriously challenging my brain, to remember what I had previously
learned, less than 6 months ago, fresh knowledge that I can still tap into,
barely, from before the seizures, yet still distant enough for it to only
be on the edge of my periphery. Unfortunately my eyesight is also seriously
damaged, so using a computer is now less accessible than it was before, and
re-learning old skills encompasses motor and sensory skills as much as
technical skills, for me now. But I'm getting there. I may not be as active
in the community as I once was, despite having more spare time on my hands.

*@Mat*, I'm not laying any claim to the term "Fediverse". I'm sure I saw it
mentioned earlier in the discussions about TWederation. It's just the first
thing that came to my mind this time.

*@Danielo*, one thing I know I'm going to need to re-learn, is how to use
GitHub to host a TiddlyWiki. Between your method and *@AndrewMyers*' method
using GitKraken, I'm sure I can fully replace my existing public wikis
which were hosted on DropBox. It looks like even *@SteveSchneider* is
migrating to hosting on GitHub Pages now. I seem to recall that I never had
any success with using TiddlySpot for hosting, due to the absurd
requirement to install a separate web browser for the initial upload. I
only ever use Firefox for browsing, or Midori for lightweight read-only
browsing. I might need a bit of hand-holding to get my public-facing wikis
back up and running, but for now I'll be focusing on getting my new local
wiki operational. No doubt a public wiki will be helpful for me to get
input and advice through from the community, though.

2016-10-04 Thread Mat
Hegart, positive to see you're good enough to come back!

>It's also great to see the Fediverse is still progressing*@Jed* and *@Mat*.
I did read the sombre comment about losing interest in it, but I'd
encourage you to keep it going.

Hehe - "Fediverse" - that's a new name for what so far has been referred to
as TWederation or Federation - but "Fediverse" might just come in handy at
some point. And I wouldn't call it "losing interest" but rather that people
still don't quite see the point - because there are currently not many
points to be seen. As we (all/anyone) eventually build more useful
applications for it, I'm confident it'll be a different matter. Jed was
busy with other stuff for a long time and right now it's me who can't set
off time for anything bigger where one has to stay focussed, but it'll
come. Jed did clean up the core code a few weeks back so it should be
easier than ever to build on it.
