Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: bug menoy (nobugging) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Server-side view-only Initial Comment: It's sometimes useful to be able to grant view-only access to a desktop. For example, if me and another user both login, me with full access, him with view-only, I can show him something on that computer without compromising security. How about a separate view-only password? If you log-in with the view-only password, the server ignores input, and if you login with the full-access password, everything behaves as normal. -- >Comment By: Pierre Ossman (ossman_) Date: 2012-07-04 00:37 Message: Help is always wanted. So if someone provides patches, then this has a much better chance of getting implemented. :) -- Comment By: Daniel Kirchner (mokaga) Date: 2012-07-03 13:16 Message: I'd also really like to see this feature (and hopefully another voice will make it happen faster :-) - I can help, if wanted!). -- Comment By: Naveen Rao (naveenrao) Date: 2012-06-08 09:32 Message: I think this is a very important feature to have. We often do screen sharing and this enables me to control who gets to interact with the session. The next step would be a control panel which allows me to _dynamically_ change a particular client's permissions without worrying about passwords, but in the meantime, view-only password will do. It is also interesting to note that the old 1.3 tightvncserver has this option. Given that, I am hoping it isn't too diffucult to port that over to tigervnc. -- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=1126849&aid=2780072&group_id=254363 -- Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond. Discussions will include endpoint security, mobile security and the latest in malware threats. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfrnl04242012/114/50122263/ ___ Tigervnc-devel mailing list Tigervnc-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/tigervnc-devel
