As I said very clearly below, BUILDING.txt does not provide universal
instructions, because providing universal instructions is impossible.
BUILDING.txt provides an *example* that is known to work only on RHEL 6
and Fedora.  If we were to provide instructions specific to your version
of Ubuntu, then it would break on other platforms.
