Hello Colin,
Seems the Thunderbolt project is growing ;-)
From the mails I see on the reflector, I conclude that a lot of people
are willing to buy more units (than indicated / listed) if the price is
right. Maybe something to consider in the negociations with the seller.
For a lower price
Hi Colin,
Been off list, I'd take one if it drops below $200.
The $250 first bid was determined by the sellers start price. As
mentioned before, we have most of the market on this list, we just need
to be patient :-)

There are different hardware variations of the Thunderbolt out there. There

I guess it depends on whether you are after a frequency reference or a phase
reference. My (commercial) Thunderbolt has no problem delivering 1E-10 or
better over 1 second (usually MUCH better). Jitter has never been a problem
for me, and I couldn't care less about holdover performance, since I
Hi Randy,
Did this PV data get uploaded? Could you please steer me to it? I'm having
some problems with the Lucent RFTG units which use the Oncore VP receiver.

I think a lot of the people on the list are just looking for a good deal on
a spare GPS clock. That's my situation, anyway... I'd buy one at $250,
maybe a couple at $200 each just for the heck of it, but at more than $250 I
wouldn't bother with any. Hopefully the seller doesn't think he has a
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm willing to wait a while (a long
while) if it means we could get them for around $100. I have no actual
current need for one, I mostly just wanted one (or more if the price is
right) just to tinker with and see how it compares. If he isn't willing to

I'll be honest -- I'm in the same boat. I'd like to get one, well,
because it's there. :-) But I'm in no rush and if waiting a month means
I can buy two for $100 instead of one for $200, I'll wait.

I think he's fishing. The auction has a three day term. One of the rules of

I'm for sub $200 pricing. I don't need one either. Just another toy.

Take note that it is a very short auction-- 3 day. I would interpret this
as the seller trying to do a quick test of the waters--possible nervousness.
Note, no minimum bid yet. I still contend there is no market for these
items at this price. Only people who don't follow this group will be

At a good price a few ms would be very fine. And you have given me an
idea. We already have a NTP server at the labo with a M12 (not the timing
version) now the question is to make it mobile... I already need a
computer for controlling the Smartbit... so I only need a switch and to

Randy,
thank you for
This is correct, to the sense that a working GPSDO has sufficient status
information that you know with great probability of being right when the
device operates per specification, particularly when there is a good GPS
signal available from several satellites (3 minimum, 5 is good, more is
