Stefan,
Well, I have been sort of staying out of the recent discussions regarding
oscillator stability measurements, ADEV, etc., but here goes my two cents
worth. I hope it doesn't muddy the waters too much and is somewhat helpful.
There is a fundamental problem with trying to do ADEV (Alla

Hi Antonio,
no restoring jump happened within a couple of days from that jump. I think
it's permanent.
Unfortunately I don't have a date/time for this jump.
The best resource for dated graphical data is probably realhamradio's GPSCon
links, even though half of those links seem to have bee

Thanks, Said.
What seldom happens to my tuning forks is similar to your
brown line, of course.
Do you have date and time of this beatiful jump?
Have you observed, by chance, a negative (restoring) jump at any time after
this jump?

the X axis is in 6 second steps. This jump happened after days of perfect

I'd say before the end of the year. If you have any suggestion on the specs
I am all ears.

I've finished my degausser replacement. I've put a zip file with

The picket fence technique indeed seems like an interesting solution. The one
thing that made me concerned is the problem of detecting missing data. The
detection seems to be hardest when the frequency of the DUT is a submultiple of
the picket fence frequency, which is what your examples amount

So you are proposing to do a kind of simulated time stamping by using a
reference PPS signal and measure the time distance between the reference edge
and the edge of the DUT? Nice idea, I'd probably need to do some math on the
result to convert it to a proper timestamp, but that shouldn't be too

Along the same lines (and this may have come up before), is there a good

When you have your question about ADEV & the PM6681 answered, would

Thanks, Tom!
Apart from the specifics with TimeView, how does one go about measuring ADEV
with a counter that does have a dead-time? Are there tricks that can be played,
either with a special measurement setup or with some data postprocessing? Or
with two counters that are somehow made to coope
Hello Neville,
interesting info! Yes, chemical processing apparently can "fix" jumpy
crystals. Wish we had more crystal processing experts post their experience
here.
It is interesting to note that some of these jumps on the order of say 0.1
parts per billion or less are probably caused b
