I just got a HP 8594E SA
I know it's not t-nut grade , but it was what i could afford.
HP 8594E Spectrum Analyzer 9KHz til 2,9GHz
- option 004 = Precision Frequency Reference
- option 010 = Tracking Generator 9KHz til 2,9GHz
- option 041 = GPIB interface + Parallel Printer
CFO...
I'd consider the'94E plenty suitable for time-nuts needs and you can do a lot
with it.
What questions do you gave about the HPIB?

Thanks for that information, too. I will try moving the tuning trimmer a bit
in both directions, 'just in case'. But if I still can't get it to lock, I
think that will mean that the problem is somewhere else - perhaps in the
photodetector?
