[time-nuts] Leitch CSD-5300N

2018-03-24 Thread Bill Baker via time-nuts

Great news for owners of the wonderful old Leitch CSD-5300N master clocks.
Many stations and academic facilities still use these fine clocks as they have
SMPTE time code and impulse out as well as an audio time beep option. They are
still quite valuable on ebay. The dial-up sync option is still supported by
the National Research Council of Canada Time Service. The dial in number is
613 745-3900.

[time-nuts] Stuff Day at Sphere coming next month, April 21st

2018-03-24 Thread walter shawlee 2

For those of you hardy souls prepared to make the journey north to BC
(before the Northern Wall goes up), this year's stuff day event will be epic.
It is on Saturday, April 21st, here in West Kelowna, BC.

We have shelves of stuff we need to clear out, including hp 8660 gear, Tek plug
ins and portables,
a complete service manual library by the pound, and numerous Tek and Fluke
scopes (12 so far),
an HP 105, literally TONs of free electronic parts, DMMs from $15 and up, and
all kinds
of weird time code gear (build your own Cape Canaveral launch room). There will
also

be a lot of outside amateur radio gear including microwave and moonshot
equipment,
and tons of fascinating people as always.  yes, we will have our freshly cal'd
rubidium

standard out for you to cross check your own gear, and numerous TCXOs and
OCXO's to
play with and take home.

This is the only note to the group, you can see more details here:
yes, we do take requests.

All the best, we hope to see you there,
walter

[time-nuts] Franklin Master Clock

2018-03-24 Thread Bill Baker via time-nuts

I have a relatively new Franklin Master Clock, model MP088-00A021 made in
Philadelphia that just died. It's a minute master with reversing polarity.
Does anyone have a schematic? The company is out of business after many years
of making school clocks and no info on the web.

They do have 2 additional footprints, but AFAIK, they never
shipped with anything but the MTI 240.

Yes, and yes, in order to properly set the gain, DAC multiplier,
and enable writes to the EEPROM.

There are details in the time-nuts archives, or you can read my
writeup here and ignore the GPS bits:
