[time-nuts] Z3805A GPS replacement
Hi the Timing-Gang, I got very recently a Z3805A GPSDO six channels coming from China from one of the most serious Chinese shop on The Bay ... :-D :-D :-D It's a six channels GPS unit and I would like to upgrade it by myself with a 12 channels using a Jupiter GPS module or Motorola ones I believe 12 channels and I have on hands. I've tried to replace the original GPS module with the Jupiter, the unit boots up and after a minute I got an alarm (red led on continuously). So my interrogation is the following: Does the alarm arrives because the firmware checks the type of GPS module? Does the alarm arrives because the Jupiter doesn't talk the Motorola bin language? (if I remember the Jupiter can be set in the two modes Motorola or NMEA talk). Any other reason concerning this alarm? If the firmware is different for each type of GPS module then can someone here in the Gang tried to replace the GPS successfully modifying or replacing this firmware? I really would like to have more than the six basic channels as I have several GPS modules with more channels. Also does anyone of you have the Z3805A manual? I'm searching for it. Bests 73's to all of you. -- Pierre-Francois, F5BQP ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
Re: [time-nuts] Sw for pm6680B
Hi Nigel, Magnus, Bjorn the Gang, Thanks for all your replies to my initial message, I appreciate very much. I downloaded the lastest version of TimeLab and will try it soon, I just tested the counter against my 5370B and my different Rubidium sources. Nigel, if you're referring to the 6680B which was on The Frenchy Bay last week, yes it's me, sorry if you were also on the deal... I would have preferred a PM6681, but no luck, it was a 6680B version, may be one day if necessary, don't know yet if it's. The old mummy arrived some days ago, I tested it, it works great, at least the basic function I tested. The OCXO has to be tuned properly, however as I'll use it in the lab driven by a PRS10 Rubidium 1pps synchronized with a Z3816 GPS rig so it's not a big issue. The question I'm wondering : Does the PM6680B (or PM6681B) replace completely a 5370B? My two main problems with the 5370B are the noise and the heat (then the AC consumption)! Also the 5370B on the bench is much more heavy compared to the PM6680B... So I'm not sure if one replace the other, so keeping the 5370B is certainly preferable?... Don't know... :-\ Your advises are welcome. All the bests to all of you and enjoy your toys... pf, f5bqp ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
[time-nuts] Sw for pm6680B
Hi the Gang, I just got not cheap but for a quite reasonnable price a legacy Fluke PM6680B counter. This toy seems to be very interesting to play with, I already have a 5370B but this new toy I got seems to be more fancy to play with, have to be confirmed. I know there is a software from Fluke names TimeView, is it possible to get a copy of it? Are there any other software running under Windows XP and/or w7 I could use? Any help will be appreciated. Re: [time-nuts] Digests too often...
Hi Matt, Thank you for your prompt reply, yes I understand, the problem these days is there are more and more mobility and poeple sending their emails to their mobile phones. May be an idea is to have two style of digests like heavy or lite, or another solution to offer users to choose the number of messages into their Digest. These are just ideas to avoid users having too much Bzzi Bzzi into their pocket... ;-) Best regards pf Le 28/02/2010 07:39, Matthew Smith a écrit : Quoth Pierre-François (f5bqp_pfm) at 2010-02-28 16:55... Why the Digest of this group is sent evey one or two hours? Most mailing list softwares send either at a set interval OR when a certain number of messages are received - whichever happens first. This prevents a very busy system from sending out digests that may contain hundreds of messages. [time-nuts] Digests too often...
Hi the gang, Why the Digest of this group is sent evey one or two hours? The digest objective is to receive not too often in one message a bunch of them, very usefull when you forward your emails to your mobile phone, here with this group I receive very often a digest with only few messages, this is very enoying on mobile phones. Many other groups are sending digests only one or maximum twice per day.
