Hi Keith
Does this version allow one to make use of the 1PPS to give accurate timing of
the PC and what timing accuracy do you expect?

Hi David
Standards Australia performs a somewhat different function in that it does
not maintain reference standards or do testing but rather it produces
written standards such as for construction of buildings, electrical wiring
and food standards. Standards Australia is certainly authoritative
There is a newer system getting phased in: ADS-B
For info MH370 did transmit ADS-B signals up to 17:21 UTC on 7 March when it
seems it was either switched off or disabled. You can still see the track

I am trying to lock a Windows XP computer to GPS time taking advantage of
both the NEMA sentence and the 1PPS with the hope of getting to within a few
ms.
I am using a Garmin GPS 18PC and the NMEATime program. When I tick the box
to implement the 1PPS feature on NMEATime the program locks up
Hi David
Yes I did not make myself clear but I am looking for UTC time from a GPS.
Thanks for all your references which I will work through and see how I go.

I wonder if anyone has suggestions as to how to check the timing variations
between two PCs that are running windows.
The background to this request is that I am running two instances of the
Weak Signal Program WSJT on the same computer and get variations of +/-0.2
seconds. It has been suggested
Hi All
In my case the Google Earth position cf if the GPS averaged position is
within 3 metres of the physical position of my GPS RX but about 8 metres
from the physical position of my GPS antenna. Can anyone tell me if the
length of the cable has any affect on the GPS reported position or is

Given that we cannot do it with one GPS in a fixed position I would like to
get people's ideas on whether there is a reasonable cost way (say less than
$2K) to do it with two GPSs to get within a say half a degree.
The application is to find azimuth headings for Amateur radio microwave or
Hi all
Thank you all for you advice and suggestions re my request. At this stage
it does not look like there is a simple solution of a readily available USB
sound card that can be locked to a 10 MHz GPSDO reference.
The constraints of portable operation with a Laptop rule out a number of
Hi all
Does anyone have any experience of locking a USB external soundcard to a
GPSDO 10 MHz reference.
I am interested in advice on any good quality soundcards that can be readily
locked to either 10 MHz or if necessary to some other frequency that we can
derive from a GPSDO source. I have
Hi Jeff
Thanks for your advice which I will follow up - the reason for going for a
USB sound card is that the system must be operated portable with a Laptop -
but perhaps there is a way to use a PCI sound card on a Laptop.
While we use WSJT at present we have a new Mode under development for the

Adelaide (South Australia) has a half hour time difference to Eastern
Australian Time. These things are caused by having a Federation of States
where the States make their own laws about time.

Hi Said and All
I have been following this thread with a lot of interest because my
application is also in portable Microwave operations with narrowband modes
such as WSJT. The main issue here is not so much long term frequency
stability as one only has to find a signal in an SSB passband, but
