Hi,
I recently purchased a surplus Trimble Thunderbolt and would like to
get it going. The 24 volt units have a fairly wide range of
acceptable voltages. The only power supply specs I can find for mine
specify +5, -12 and +12. No min-max is specified. I have a power
supply that has +5, +15
Bill,
I have an HP3335 and often use it. I hope mine will keep running!
I'm sure there are others who could make good use of one of them.

Hi,
Not too long ago there was an interesting discussion here about RF
connectors. I have always wondered about the F connector - used by
the boxload in TV distribution.
Are they any good for anything else? Just curious. Thanks.

Hi,
I apologize if this is not a legitimate request for this group. But
does anyone have experience repairing one of these? I have two and
neither works. The first one lights up, but with random digits on the
display. I picked up the second hoping to get some spare parts, but

Doesn't sound fishy at all to me. But I have much experience
stripping threads. It is easy, just make it snug, then a bit tighter.
Or, the threads could have been damaged by the original installer.
That happens too (just not as often). If the fit was a bit on the
loose side initially, it could

Bill,
GPS definitely works through a commercial aircraft window.
You have to hold the unit, or at least the antenna, close to the window.
Some airlines, however, prohibit GPS use during flight.
Check with your airline.

I'm new to this, but it sounded more like this is to be a thermal
mass to minimize temperature swings.
Why would you want to efficiently cool something that you are trying
to heat and maintain at a constant temperature?
just curious in Medina, OH

It seems to me that the heat sink is like having a hole in the bottom
of the bucket, just takes longer to fill. Added thermal mass would
keep the temperature more even. A radiator just dissipates heat, the
hotter thew object the more heat it will dissipate. The radiator
doesn't know if it is
heatsink for them.
The 70C maximum rating for the baseplate is likely based on typical
heat losses from the other parts of the device. If the baseplate
(which is easy to measure) is kept below 70C, the rest of the device
(which is inaccessible) should be okay.

from village to village. So a bushel of wheat in one locality
differed from a bushel elsewhere. Same with all of the other units.
