Hi Mark,
Will it work with Z3811 (KS24361)

Hi
Best guess:
It’s inside the styrofoam block.
It’s inside a sealed can in the block
It’s (maybe) inside a can inside that one.
It’s a SMT part on a board in that can.
You set the frequency by pulling what they have there, measuring it and
putting in another cap. If they used a series like

Christopher,
The only way is to open the oscillator up and reselect the capacitor they
used to set it on frequency.
I've done it once or twice long ago, not easy to do!
I have a 1200 with the same problem however it does tune to 1Hz low so I
use it as the offset oscillator for my DMTD unit!
Christopher,
my 4060 has been locking exactly 0.5 Hz off of the correct frequency.
The 1000B has had a contact problem on the edge connector.
Over the years, an insulating black layer had built up between the
solder and the gold plating of the contacts.
I had to re-solder each of them carefully
If anyone in UK is interested, I have one for sale. In good working condition.
Asking £200 ono. Complete with manual.Prefer collection only. Thanks & regardsRob

Dave,
While this is a bit of a tangent out of normal time-nuts, it still has
some relevance in terms handling of old equipment. Lets not get to crazy
on this tangent.
We had a similar issue many years ago. The BGA mounted chips would break
away from the boards and rattle around after
Hi
As long as we are cataloging all this stuff:
The run of the mill OCXO has a hermetic case on it. You get in and out of the
case via pins with glass to metal seals.
One of the common things to make the pins out of is Kovar. It’s great stuff,
matches the TC of glass fine, easy to work
with.
I recently ordered and received what claims to be a 2007 vintage
Morion MV89 from ebay (I say claimed as that what the auction item
said, but my unit is missing the identifying label on the top and just
has '2007 MV89A' written on the side in marker). I've powered it up
with a bench power supply
Hi
Compared to some MV89’s that’s a bit cold….It certainly is not alarmingly
hot for an OCXO case.

Adrian,
Your connector has probably experienced a problem common to gold plated
contacts and component leads. Years ago, I worked in the avionics repair
and calibration facility at the Navy base in Jacksonville, FL. I saw this
quite frequently in HP and Tektronix instruments that had been in
Thanks, Corby. That was my guess.
Is this cap buried in the styrofoam block? (Cue "we need to go deeper"
meme.)

Hi Adrian,
Thank you for your reply.
Is this board deep inside the OCXO?
I haven't ventured past the output amplifier board stack at the "front."
The styrofoam insulation seems pretty fragile from age and heat.
