even if we use the default distance scaling factor(1.0), we should hit
ENTER first to activate it.

That plugin is a bit buggy.
I have just played with it.
i) setup a grid of 100 nodes
ii) set the radio model to to fixed radius 10
ii) set the scalingfactor to 2
At this point all nodes are isolated. For some reason the radius is divided by
the scale factor; radius 10 / factor 2 = new-radius 5,
