hello traci

in our studies set up online (surveymonkey and similar programs) we have used an innocuous question about birth dates to randomly assign participants to conditions. for example is your birthday on an odd or even day for two conditions, etc. typically we reverse the connections daily. if you want to block randomize you can inquire about sex of participant and then date of birth. it is simply to do and called branching or similar term (just check Help function).

Subject: [tips] random assignment for online surveys/survey monkey

I'd like to run a 1x6 between-subjects experiment online; does anyone
know if survey monkey (or some other relatively inexpensive software)
will randomize (or even better, block randomize) participants to the 6
conditions? (And if so, how that is accomplished...)

Thanks!
