Frostburg State University, Department of Psychology<http://www.frostburg.edu/dept/psyc/>, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Psychology position with a primary focus in Child-Clinical/Counseling Psychology to begin Fall 2017. Salary commensurate with experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits<http://www.frostburg.edu/hr/hr-service-areas/benefits/> package. The Department of Psychology at FSU offers courses of study and program options for both undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to the Psychology major and minor, the Department offers minors in Animal Behavior and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and soon will offer a minor in Addictions Counseling. Undergraduate students also have the opportunity to participate in an internship program during their senior year. The Masters in Counseling Psychology program offers training to those interested in working in the mental health and human services field and includes a year-long internship as a required component of the program. Responsibilities: Teaching in the undergraduate and graduate Psychology programs (12 credits per semester): Child Development, Psychology of the Exceptional Child, and two graduate courses to be determined. Oversight and possible modification of a redesigned General Psychology program which includes undergraduate Learning Assistants. Student advising and possible mentorship of Psi-Chi or Psych Club. Faculty members at FSU are expected to actively participate in the University’s student-learning-assessment program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to mentoring research, fostering a climate accepting of students from diverse backgrounds, and integrating multicultural issues into courses. Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program or APA-accredited Internship, with expertise in children, required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. License eligibility in the State of Maryland as a Psychologist. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.
