Re: [toaster] Rejecting invalid mail addresses at the RCPT TO stage

Re: [toaster] Just installed the toaster, got a suggestion which may improve it
Bill Shupp wrote: Nikki Locke wrote: Just a note for Bill... In my CentOS 4 default configuration, when you attempt to copy or move a file over one that already exists, the O/S asks you if it is OK for each file. This makes some of the instructions tedious (e.g. mv ezmlm-idx- 0.443/* ezmlm-0.53/), and means you had better not just use copy and paste to the shell with a whole list of instructions! Would it be a good idea to add -f options to all the mv and cp commands? Actually the way I addressed this was to put a note in prerequisites: http://shupp.org/toaster/#prerequisites It recommends you unalias the mv, cp, and rm commands. I think this is a better option than -f. Quite right. Being particularly stupid that day, I wasn't aware that they were aliased. Sorry for bothering you. -- Nikki Locke, Trumphurst Ltd. [toaster] Security updates to toaster programs
I'm a CentOS user, and I'm used to getting security patches for all the programs I installed using yum or up2date. Now I've compiled so much stuff fropm source, with numerous patches, how do I stand as far as security updates are concerned? Are any security-related updates announced on this list? Or do I find them somewhere else? I must admit I would feel a bit lost if I had to apply a security update to (say) qmail by myself, because I would probably lose the necessary patches. Oh, and the usual note of thanks to Bill for creating the toaster instructions in the first place. -- Nikki Locke, Trumphurst Ltd. PC Unix consultancy programming http://www.trumphurst.com/
[toaster] Submitting spam to Bayesian filter from SquirrelMail
I would like to use the Bayesian spam filter. To that end, I need all the users here to be able to mark mail as spam, so it can be sent through sa- learn. Ideally I think I need to be able to submit non-spam mail too. How do people achieve this? I have seen suggestions that I implement a shared folder for spam, and persuade people to move mail to that folder. However, I haven't managed to find any clear instructions on how to do that. Also, this wouldn't help users who want to use their own email client, like Outlook. What suggestions do the team have, and is there any good documentation explaining how to achieve them? Thanks in advance, Nikki -- Nikki Locke, Trumphurst Ltd. PC Unix consultancy programming http://www.trumphurst.com/

The squirrelmail spam-button plugin works for me. Create two email accounts on the same box as squirrelmail or where you have spamassassin running Here are the salient settings for spam-button's config.php: $is_spam_resend_destination = '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'; $is_not_spam_resend_destination = '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'; $spam_report_email_method = 'bounce'; $is_spam_note_success = _(Successfully queued for spam report); $is_not_spam_note_success = _(Successfully queued for ham report); set up a cron to run sa-learn, something like sa-learn --spam $spamdir sa-learn --ham $hamdir where $spamdir is /home/vpopmail/domains/adomain.com/learn-spam/Maildir/new for the above learn-spam account do the same for ham move the mail to cur or delete afterwards see man sa-learn for details This will allow your customers to train spamassassin. Wether they will or not is another matter ;-( good luck. Thanks for that - I'm playing with it now.
