I don't thing that a cluster implementation sync multiple requests
at different nodes. It is a perfomance killer and we not implement this.

You must have a single opening request to create the session. With sticky
session
mode at your loadbalancer all your frame request goes than to same node. Cluster
works only for node failures. Then your lb can navigate to the correct backup
session state.

Frame based systems are very complicate story for correct failure handling
inside a cluster. :-(

[ANN] Watchdog has moved to Subversion

2005-08-14 Thread Mark Thomas
As those of you subscribed to the dev list may have already noticed,
the following CVS modules have been migrated to Subversion.

jakarta-watchdog
jakarta-watchdog-4.0

These modules are now read only in CVS.

The new SVN locations are:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/tomcat/watchdog/branches/tc3.3.x/
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/tomcat/watchdog/branches/tc4.1.x/

NB Committers wishing to make changes to these modules will need to
use https as per http://www.apache.org/dev/version-control.html#https-svn

I'll update the Tomcat web-site shortly.

Apache plans to turn off CVS on 31/12/2005. Therefore, the current
plan is that the remainder of the Tomcat modules will be moving to SVN
some time between now and the end of the year. Regular updates will be
posted to the dev list and announcements made on both lists as each
migration goes live.

Flush should not be executed for INFO level. It slows the things
down by the factor of 2. I agree for ERROR and EMERG.
DEBUG and TRACE uses fflush so the order of messages can be traced,
but that is also dubious because the messages could come from
different threads, so the best would be to use the fflush only
with ERROR and EMERGE levels.

So it is OK to commit the following:

Have you verified this works?
Looking at the Apache 2.0 code, it seems to delegate both the chunked encoding
detection and the chunked encoded read to Apache via ap_* calls (and IIS isn't
gonna be that accomodating).
I can't see anywhere in the common read code that parses the chunk block length.

This will have some overlap with #15357 , which implements chunked encoding on
the outbound response.

I'd also suggest the check for Transfer-Encoding: chunked be moved up a bit to
where the Tomcat worker/query headers are checked for.

I've improved this functionality a bit - mostly tweaking and adding some of the
HTTP/1.1 edge cases for enabling chunked encoding.

I won't repatch until JK 1.3 is branched, as there's no roadmap for that at the
moment.

Subject: svn commit: r232600 - /tomcat/watchdog/branches/tc3.3.x/WARNING.txt

As a historical note, this really should be the tc3.2.x branch. This
particular watchdog has never worked well with any TC 3.3.x, since it has a
lot of bugs related to specific implementation details of TC 3.2.x (and, the
Watchdog committers mostly moved on to TC 4.0.x during the Great Flame Wars,
so it couldn't be fixed by TC 3.3.x committers :).
